Car headlights classification , for a car, headlights are as important as human eyes. As an important electronic part of the car safety system, car headlights not only reflect the appearance of the car, but are also closely related to safe driving at night or in bad weather conditions. In this issue, Antparts talks about “car headlights” with you!

In fact, the classification of car headlights is very simple and can be roughly divided into four types: halogen headlights, xenon headlights, LED headlights, and laser headlights. These four are the same as car headlights, but the prices are very different~

1. Halogen headlights

Halogen headlights are currently the most common in automotive headlights. There are two main factors:

① They have a long lifespan, under normal circumstances, a halogen bulb has a lifespan of about several thousand hours;

② They have relatively simple process and low production cost, and the replacement cost is also relatively low.halogen headlights

Features: The light is warm yellow, and the brightness is relatively low, which can only meet the basic use. Usually, the irradiation distance of the low beam is about 30-40 meters, and the irradiation range is about 160°, but in rainy or foggy days, the warm yellow light Light penetration is the best.

Price: $10-$50

2. Xenon headlights

Not only do xenon headlights have a cool white glow, they’re often accompanied by a distinctive blue tint. Because it contains a small amount of metallic xenon gas, it not only prevents the lights from flickering, but also ensures enough brightness is provided for maximum brightness. At present, many mid-to-high-end models use xenon headlights, and their prices are relatively high.

Features: The brightness is very high, which is about several times that of halogen lamps. The efficiency of converting electricity into light energy is relatively high, that is, it is bright and saves electricity. However, its structure is complex and expensive, and it needs to be used with a lens. Used more on models.

Price: $50 – $500

3. LED headlights

LED is a solid semiconductor component. When these semiconductor materials are energized, only a part of the electrical energy will flow through the semiconductor material, and the excess energy is released in the form of light, thereby converting the electrical energy directly into light energy.

LED headlights

①LED has the advantages of strong reliability, long service life, and high lumens per watt;

②It is sturdy and simple in structure, not easily affected by vibration, and the same electric energy can generate more light output;

③ In addition, its response speed is fast, and there is no light-emitting delay like xenon lamps, which can effectively reduce the probability of accidents.

Features: energy saving, high brightness, fast lighting, stable performance, more and more cars are now using LED headlights, which is also the future lighting trend.

Price: $250- $5000

4. Laser headlights

Laser headlights are a kind of blue parallel light produced by laser light-emitting diodes, which have greater controllability and intensity than LED lights. Laser headlights have high efficiency, long life, good stability and fast response. At present, laser headlights have begun mass production on BMW’s i8. As the most advanced automotive lighting technology, the biggest disadvantage of laser headlights is that the cost is too high, which is much higher than that of LED lights.

Laser headlights

Features: The beam will not cause damage to the eyes. Laser headlights can illuminate twice as far as LED headlights, but they are not widely used yet.

Price: Expensive not sure.

Note that in addition to the main light source, car headlights also have LED angel eyes module, ballast, turn signal, and driver module. . .Together they form an integral part of the headlight.
